55 years ago, Ken Wood bought the West Bridgewater Public Library and turned it into a tire shop.
The library, which also served as a schoolhouse in the 1800's, was due to be demolished to make way for a new school. But instead of the wrecker's ball, it became Kenwood Tire Company at the corner of South Main and Ash Streets in West Bridgewater.
December 1962 was moving day for the building. From all accounts, everything stopped along Rt.106 and Rt.28 and people lined the streets as the building slowly made its way to its new location at 118 S.Main St. in West Bridgewater.
